I have a question. I vacuum sealed my buckets of rice last summer in mylar bags with o2 absorbers. I just opened them up to check on them. I didn't wait 24 hours before putting on the bucket lids last year, my mistake.
Some still has air in it, some look almost airless. They all seem to be air tight when I pull on them. Is it possible they're actually oxygen free but still has the rest of the air in them. I only used o2 absorber and a hot jaw sealer. no vacuum sealer was used. edit: do I have to re-seal the ones that are kinda puffy? :Surrender: |
Re: Longterm Food Storage Vids
Personally, I would. If not, make sure that the first one you crack open. I have 3 5# bags rice in same situation. All the others look like your first pic. Was discussed in earlier thread, may just be other gases, though, for what its worth, other than a minor pain in the ass, and not knowing for sure as to when I would be 'cracking the bag open'.....i will be resealing mine this weekend, when i load up a bunch more mylar pouches.
